DIGITAL CAMERA WORLD SPOTLIGHTS MARIO TESTINO'S GONE WILD EXHIBITION - WILDLIFE MEETS FASHION

FEATURE

In the November 2024 issue of Digital Camera World, writer Kalum Carter dives into Gone Wild, Mario Testino’s striking wildlife series that transforms animals into icons of light, form, and emotion. From lions in Kenya to macaws in Brazil, Testino captures nature as if it were fashion... instinct meeting art direction.
The feature describes how Testino’s technique, often compared to chiaroscuro, turns feathers into couture and habitats into sets. In Carter’s words, the animals appear “like supermodels papped on a night out,” bridging the language of high fashion with the freedom of the wild. Through post-production precision and creative vision, Gone Wild becomes what Carter calls Testino’s “personal AI” — a world not generated, but imagined.
