THE EYE OF PHOTOGRAPHY MARIO SPOTLIGHTS TESTINO’S GONE WILD EXHIBITION AT HAMILTONS GALLERY

Photographic art magazine The Eye of Photography featured Mario Testino’s exhibition Gone Wild at Hamiltons Gallery in 2023. Gone Wild reveals Testino’s exploration of wildlife as cultural portraiture. Moving from people to the natural world, the series captures birds and animals across Brazil, Mongolia, and Namibia through a lens shaped by fashion and fine art. Writer Dr. Jenifer Allen describes how Testino “expands the frontiers of wildlife photography,” transforming each subject into a study of form, texture, and emotion.
Unlike traditional wildlife photography, Gone Wild is an imaginative fusion of couture and nature; feathers echo millinery, light recalls Rembrandt, and every creature becomes part of a painterly dialogue between instinct and style. The work positions Testino not just as an observer of beauty, but as a chronicler of the imagination itself.
