In 2004, Mario curated an exhibition of Latin American artists at Andrea Rosen Gallery in New York. In putting the exhibition together, Mario recognised a common thread in the artists he chose to include; a focus was in work that involves the transformation of materials in the process of making images. Artists exhibited were: Tonico Lemos Auad, Fernando Bryce, Ernesto Caivano, Tiago Carneiro da Cunha, Grillo Demo, Juan Manuel Echavarria, Tomas Espina, Jarbas Lopes and Mauro Piva.
