Kate Who?
"Kate Who?" opened at Phillips de Pury & Company’s London galleries and The Saatchi Gallery in 2010. The exhibition celebrated Mario Testino’s collaboration with his muse, British model Kate Moss. The show was an intimate testimony of a friendship that spans over two decades.
“Kate represents the ultimate kind of woman, an icon of our times. Not just an image of beauty, but of a lifestyle, an attitude. She has been a catalyst for many things and transcends the notion of a model who models a ‘look’ or a hair style – she represents a world, a whole way of being, living in a moment where everything is communicated globally and without restraint.” - Mario Testino
The Exhibition
Comparable to Irving Penn’s extraordinary relationship with Lisa Fonssagrives, David Bailey’s with Jean Shrimpton and Norman Parkinson’s with Wenda Rogerson, Testino is able to extract a quality in Moss that no other photographer can. There is the possibility of everything and anything when Testino and Kate Moss work together. Testino’s pictures of Moss transcend fashion.
